Snapshots of Melbourne

I am back in Singapore and will see everyone soon at ZOUK for the finals on the 26th of Nov! I just arrived last night and it’s funny cos Melbourne is actually hotter than Singapore. It was scorching and reached temperatures of 35 degrees Celcius. But here, I had to use a blanket last night!! (with no aircon). Good timing :D

Thought I might make this a photo post and show you what Melbourne is like. I don’t usually go around Melbourne taking photos just like Singaporeans don’t usually go around taking photos of the Merlion. But this time, I acted the tourist and went to the city to take some shots of well-known attractions to show you guys =)

(All photos [incl photos in my other entries] are by Canon IXUS)

Melbourne Central Shot Tower and the iconic glass cone. It's located inside Melbourne Central Shopping Centre itself but I'm pretty sure there aren't any shops inside apart from the one on ground level.

” Fact: The cone is 20 storeys high, weighs 490 tonnes and has 92 glass panes. The glass panes are cleaned by a specially designed mechanical system. ”

Given as a gift to Melburnians. This is opposite the shot tower and every hour, a display drops down to show “Australian galahs, cockatoos and two minstrels performing Waltzing Matilda , under the watchful gaze of some koalas.” I tried to make it at both 1 o’clock and 2 o’clock… but er, yeah my tummy was rumbling and I was getting pretty hungry haha. Go to Melb to witness if for yourself!

Trams, trams and more trams. That little corner of “library” sticking out from the ground is apparently a world famous skateboarding spot (according to my American skateboarder friend). I’m pretty sure it’s banned…

Over 110,000 commuters pass through this station. All suburban trains stop here.

Went through 6 years of high school with this girl. From year 7 algebra, to first dates, to stressing for final uni-entrance exams. We were slightly awkward when this photo was taken cos the waiter was kinda creepy haha.

Finally, here’s a combination of my closest church buddies and family in Melbourne. Oh and food =)
