Date with my mates

December 15th, 2009 by Audrey Yong

datewithmates

That’s right! Even though the competition has ended, friendships continue…
Dinner on Saturday night with fellow gorgeous  gals at Canele’s (recommended by Juanni). Although Merry has a ridiculous schedule, she still managed to make time for us! and… she brought us a copy of her book which I’ve read and really is inspiring! I love people who dream big and take risks. We’ve only got one life, make the most of it. What steps are you taking today to make your dreams a reality? I can only say with certainty that God continues to lead the way for me… doors that were once slammed in my face are now opening up for me. OK, so back to the date with my mates! Tres awesome catching up with them and we still haven’t got our laksa or our coffee fix! Another date soon I say =)

Gorgeous Finale (Edited…more pics!)

December 6th, 2009 by Audrey Yong
Hello!

It’s been a while. Firstly, CONGRATS to our gorgeous winners Annabel and Adrian!! It’s true, they are stunning and do have the G-factor =) and Adrian tried really hard to pull an Aussie accent, so I will give him some credit for making it sound malaysianish-cockney british.. haha. It was close!

Here are some pics from the night at ZOUK…

Crew setting up the stage Crew setting up the stage

The Female staff, stylists, choreographers, stage crew and zouk staff worked extremely hard behind the scenes. Though everyone rocked up, enjoyed the show, had a few drinks and basically had a great time overall, we really owed it to these guys for making it happen.

Quiz time for top 5 girls

ME_QuestionTime

Quiz time for the top 5 girls… I had all the “Why do you think you’re gorgeous” and “what do you think gorgeous means to you” kinda questions prepared in my head. The question they asked me was somewhere along the lines of “the differences between Melbourne and Singapore.” HAHA. I could’ve said the way Singapore is so CLEAN, the transport system is so CONVENIENT and it’s a very FINE place indeed. My answer was Singapore’s rich cuisine… and laksa.

We later convened for supper at the local hawker centre for prawn noodles (highly recommended by my uncle but he didn’t order it for himself!). I’m the random with stage makeup haha.

It was really fun getting to know everyone and we’re all keeping in contact! Shall post more about our dates with each other outside of the Female fashion shows hehe.

And a special shoutout to my mum (back in Aus) who couldn’t make it due to church commitments, and to my beautiful 91 year old grandma who raised me in my early years, for being my two MOST GORGEOUS persons =)

Annyung Singapore!

November 21st, 2009 by Audrey Yong

Cruel Temptation

Anyone been watching Korean dramas on TV recently? Well there’s a new drama on Channel U called “Cruel Temptation” and it premiered last night. It’s actually really really good.

Well I was checking out some DVDs at a store one day and noticed the poster for an autograph session with the male lead of the series, Byun Woo Min. I was curious and haven’t been to an autograph session or “fan meeting” before, so picked up my Canon IXUS 55 camera and headed out to Junction 8.

Cools. He looks really familiar. Kinda like this singer I know…

Byun Woo Min or Wakin Chau?

Byun Woo Min or Wakin Chau??

There were quizzes for the audience about shows he’s appeared in and prizes for each correct answer. Sadly, my brain and arms were not as fast as some of the ‘aunties’ in the crowd. So I didn’t win a DVD prize BUT I was the first to take photos with James Kim (Seoul Raiders) and Lee Seul (Tears) who were hanging around off stage.

Then it was my turn to approach the star of the day, who by the way, speaks pretty awesome English.

I also made a friend that day haha. We were both waiting around at the start and planned to help each other take photos cos it was a fast-paced event. She sent me the pics we took at the end. Thanks Beryl!

Snapshots of Melbourne

November 17th, 2009 by Audrey Yong

snapshots

I am back in Singapore and will see everyone soon at ZOUK for the finals on the 26th of Nov! I just arrived last night and it’s funny cos Melbourne is actually hotter than Singapore. It was scorching and reached temperatures of 35 degrees Celcius. But here, I had to use a blanket last night!! (with no aircon). Good timing :D

Thought I might make this a photo post and show you what Melbourne is like. I don’t usually go around Melbourne taking photos just like Singaporeans don’t usually go around taking photos of the Merlion. But this time, I acted the tourist and went to the city to take some shots of well-known attractions to show you guys =)

(All photos [incl photos in my other entries] are by Canon IXUS)

Film: Yours Truly

November 12th, 2009 by Audrey Yong

SINGAPORE TALENTS!

Hi all, thought I’d share with you my latest project before I did all my travelling this year. It’s called Yours Truly and was directed and produced by Singaporeans but filmed all in Melbourne. It’s my first Asian-made film and will premiere this December at Melbourne’s ACMI in Federation Square (I will post some pics of this place later).

The film is yet to premiere and so I can only show you a few pics taken by Stills Photographer Paul Tan (Singaporean!) with his Canon DSLR (I want one…).

YT1

YT2

YT3

YT4

Writer and Director: Kevin Chan
He has worked with acclaimed Hong Kong director, Tsui Hark, as well as local Singapore projects on Mediacorp with Fann Wong, Joanne Peh and Felicia Chin. He had the whole crew in hysterics whenever he got excited about a camera frame. He’d say “yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes!!!!!!!” (10 yes(s) per second).

Producer: Clyde Cheng
Talented, extremely committed and hardworking producer. Her previous film was an official selection for the Busan International Film Festival. Oh and she speaks darn awesome Korean… fluently. Annyung! Jinjah?

Actor: Desmond Chiam
He’s not just talented, he’s also extremely friendly and down to earth. You may have seen him before since he was the face of eBay China. Or, if you’re an avid youtuber and know famed youtube singer Jennifer Chung, you’d have see him act as her lover in her MV (apparently dubbed the Asian Edward Cullen haha).

More to share (behind the scenes etc).
Blessings xoxo

Quiet on set. Lights. Camera Rolling. Action!

November 10th, 2009 by Audrey Yong

All throughout high school and uni/college, I’ve been acting. Whether they were plays, skits, musicals or silly videos we made for school or church, it was pretty obvious that I had developed a passion for performing.

So once I started uni, I found myself an agent and got right into it. Yes, I had to start out as an extra- cheering from the sidelines, watching a fight, running away from natural disasters (look like an ant in this frame), passenger waiting in the airport, girl at the cafe etc. We were paid casual rates and I was able to go behind the scenes of some of Australia’s much-loved soapies. They are big in Australia, but even bigger in the UK. I also did bollywood films and TV Commercials. I loved every bit of it; watching the director explain the background story to the actor, the assistant directors telling us extras where and when to walk in front of the lead actor, learning how actors got into character, what they did on their breaks, how the crew interacted… it was just so fun! I learnt a lot from these experiences.

FIRST AUDITION

Soon, it was my turn to do the auditioning and I found myself auditioning for actual characters (no more ‘girl on bicycle’ or ‘takeaway kid’) on some of Australia’s popular crime drama series. On my first audition, I had no idea what an audition would be like AT ALL. I hadn’t done acting classes but I just knew I can prove to them I can do it. Turned out, I didn’t fit the role (overseas student) and they gave it to someone else. Was I upset? YES. I thought I had it. I prepared for it. I thought I was ready. Casting has to do with a certain look and that’s what I had to learn. Apparently, I didn’t look Asian enough!?? Anyway, I got a phonecall from my agent and they decided to give me another role to play instead! (I  jumped up and down for a full 5 minutes in my room after I hung up).

Well, here’s my latest role on yet another crime drama series (we like our police stories).

I played a character called Pearl who was a student lured into being a drug mule. I swallowed balloons of drugs and planned to fly to Singapore (idiot of a character lol).

I played a character called Pearl who was a student lured into being a drug mule. I swallowed balloons of drugs and planned to fly to Singapore (idiot of a character lol).

Working on this set was awesome. There were so many stunts involved such as car-chases, getting run over by a car, grabbing a driver by his neck while the car is in motion, falling from a building… Yeah well, I didn’t do those things. I got injured cos the guy kidnapping me slammed the car door on my ankle as I was entering the car. niceeee. So anti-climatic haha.
I shall post more pics I find of other roles I’ve played to date soon.

Till next time…Take care, God bless and let’s go stain our teeth by eating more laksa *drools*

Preview @ ION

November 3rd, 2009 by Audrey Yong

50gplogo_words

It is finally here! My take on the Female 50 GP Sneak Preview at ION Orchard… just thought I’d keep it short and let the photos speak for themselves =)

Night before the preview

I spent that night at ION Orchard with Lee Hom (not personally though, darn it!).

I knew I was falling sick but kept playing mind games with myself… that I was fine and well and

1. The sniffles was just the result of my passionate reaction to the Taiwanese popstar (sniff, he’s so cool).
2. The warm forehead was due to the transmission of Lee Hom’s hotness unto us mere mortals.
3. Me sleeping for only 2 hours the night before Female’s preview was because I was awestruck.

On the day itself…

You know what? I had a BLAST and a HUGE thanks to the Female Team, Anna Sui, Risis and the rest of the 49 gorgeous people for making me forget I was sick :)

Come fly with me, let’s fly, let’s fly away…

November 1st, 2009 by Audrey Yong

The behind-the-scenes post for the Female 50 Gorgeous People Sneak Preview is definitely coming soon! Sorry for the delay. Just that I’ve been sick for a week (since my LeeHomming weekend).  Right now I’m back in… Aus! For a break and to celebrate my birthday – I turned 22 on Oct 27 :)

I basically spent this week in bed “resting” (youtubing self made musicians and offering them my undyin support). So not much activity this week hehe.

Come on Kite... FLY!!

Come on Kite... FLY!!

MARINA BARRAGE

Well, there’s something I’ve been
meaning to post for awhile now anyway.

It was the time I went kite-flying with
my gorgeous niece Janielle (Mich’s baby
daughter) at Marina Barrage.

There were some pretty funky kites there.
Glow in the dark ones, snakes and cuttlefish?!

Someone brought this massive snake
kite that killed all the other kites in the sky
by tangling and taking them all down with it.

Hilarious. And tragic.

Now, what ever happened to the humble diamond kite?

Mich brought along two types of kites.
A butterly (I think) and a bird.

Now what ever happened to the humble diamond kite?
Woohoohoo! There it goes!

Woohoohoo! There it goes! (Not bad for a one year old hey?)

Thanks to Aunty Audrey of course;)

ION Orchard Grand Opening – Fashion shows, MTV and Wang Lee Hom

October 28th, 2009 by Audrey Yong
Wow. So much has happened in just a few days. Don’t really know where to begin. But since I just uploaded a few videos on youtube, I’m gonna start with that. Having said that, the Female 50 Gorgeous People sneak preview will definitely be up on my blog soon. Twas AWESOME and TRES FUN. Just gathering some photos and videos right now so do check back again!

Anyhoo, I was surfing the net and googling on Thursday and decided to look up the events on the ION Orchard website to check if the Female 50 GP would be advertised and sure enough it was. Then I read that the 23rd Oct was the grand opening for ION. And oh my oh my, MTV VJs Utt and Denise Keller were going to be there… and and and and Wang Lee Hom was going to perform!!!! There were also fashion shows from top international brands and dance performances. Messaged my friend Allan immediately and he was up for it.

Friday morning came and I felt the onset of cold symptoms. But nothing was gonna stop me from attending ION’s Grand Opening! I got there early and Allan was still caught up in the office. So I waited around the fans area.

The fans waiting for the event to start.

I didn’t have the best view (unlike the VIPs who were directly in front) and had to settle with the big screens.
