The Secret to my Tan.

November 1st, 2009 by Jamie Ng
Friends have been asking me this question in various permutations:

“Why do you look so fair in the magazine huh?”
“What happened to you??!!”
“How come you look like a bangla now?”
*insert more questions*

Well, the answer is….. Bali. I was there recently to attend a beautiful wedding at Uluwatu. Words can’t describe how beautiful it was. In summary: cliff-side, huge waves, romantic set-up, good weather, sunset, quartet, full moon and great company. It would have been a dream wedding for any girl! Let the pictures do the talking:

But that wasn’t the cause of my tan since the wedding only started at 4pm. It was my day activity at Nusa Dua beach with the gang. I spent a grand total of 1 hour in the sun but got 2584 shades darker!! *sigh* But it was fun watching everyone scream and get wet!

All pictures courtesy of my Canon Digital Ixus 850IS, affectionately known as Ixy! I swore my heart skipped a beat when i nearly dropped it on my way home today. I love how the macro mode makes the close up and food pictures look so professional. Macro mode, half click to focus and TADAHHH! Muahaha! Who needs a DSLR?

Ok. I take that back. I still want a DSLR. *cross fingers*

Gold Rush!

October 28th, 2009 by Jamie Ng

Cameras, models, clothes and fun! That’s pretty much sums up the experience of all the Gorgeous People last Saturday. Sadly I wasn’t able to be there to soak up the atmosphere and meet everyone.  Work beckoned and I was down at East Coast Beach at 830am for my sector’s bonding event, Gold Rush!

I was the “saboed” appointed team leader for Mix Pinky and had to run up and down East Coast Park like a mad woman with my other 15 team members.  But the most enthusiastics ones were Florence and Jasmine.  It was hilarious to see them sprint 300 metres ahead of us to “chope” the station!

I had the most fun at the Captain’s Ball station. Instead of giving each team a ball, we were made to choose from 4 surprise boxes. I had SUPER lucky hands and picked the box with……………… papayas.  This was my immediate reaction —> (=_=)

Our opponent picked the banana and we had a pretty smashed up match. Being the defender, I grabbed the banana once it came flying towards the enemy’s goal post and had banana puree on my hands 2 minutes into the game. The papaya didn’t come to a good end either. We were left with the skin in 3 minutes. The soft juicy parts? All over our hair, bodies and clothes! Aarrghhh~

Janice, the meanie poke (that’s her in white) smeared ALL her papaya all over me! *roar* But I have to say my arms felt rather smooth after i washed the papaya off. Haha! Here’s a picture of my fab team at the last station with our victory pose! No more sun! Yayyyy!

Well, my team didn’t win the top 3 prizes but we did win best cheer! Even though I missed out on the glitz at ION, I made many new friends from my sector and got to know many of them at a deeper level. Like how Jasmine is actually super eager and animated when having fun. Totally different from her usual strict and solemn self in office!

I think it’s important to have great colleagues in the office. Work will just be a job and seem like a drag if you didn’t have colleagues that transcend the work line to become your friends. Friends that will be there for you when you get screamed at by customers, when you are nursing a heartbreak or share the calories when you feel like having an ice-cream! *That’s you Angelene! My lunch-time ice-cream kaki* Till the next entry! Adieus!

Eat Drink Woman

October 18th, 2009 by Jamie Ng
The weekend is over wayyy too soon! But i had a pretty nice day. Zoomed off to Rochester for yummy brunch at Graze! Had a little fun with my new Quadcam on my way there.

Graze’s alfresco area was apparently fully booked and could only give us a table under the sun. But when I was done with my food, it was still half empty. Tsk. Luckily, the food made up for it. The cast iron pan was great! Loved the mushrooms, peppery baby potatoes and smoky tasting sunny side up! The bananas from the pancakes were a tad too sour for my liking though. But nothing that the yummy cardamom honey cannot fix! I drowned my pancakes in it. Muahaha!

After walking under the sweltering sun, I was dying for a great spa treatment. OoOhh~ But since i’m stuck in Singapore and feeling poor like a church mouse, I did the next best thing. Make myself a typical spa welcome beverage. Lemongrass drink! I have to say it’s pretty tasty for a virgin attempt. Till the next weekend! Woot!

I love weekends!

October 17th, 2009 by Jamie Ng

Hello hello! I see I’m way behind on blogging. But never too late to start right? So here goes:

This is me.

jams

I’m not hyper by nature but friends have the terrible ability to rouse the crazy side of me. I don’t like complexities and all I need is a good cup of coffee in the company of friends. I work to travel and live to eat! Currently addicted to brunch and Airport Mania! It’s all Xiao’s fault. I’m fervently browsing the App Store for new things to download! *roar*

It’s been a crazy week at work. Friday was especially terrible with all the mean emails and phone calls flooding in. It made me think twice *more like 276 times* about my job and whether it was worth sacrificing my social life, lunch time and sleep for customers who scream the moment they don’t get what they want and instantly forget everything else you have done for them in the past year.

Still, I decided to go for a customer dinner albeit feeling really demoralised about my job. However, I was glad I turned up because I saw a rare burst of emotion from my boss nearing the end of the dinner. It made me realise that he doesn’t have it easy too even though he’s at the top. I don’t think any of us realise what an uphill task it was for him to form this new team and that he is working just as hard.

That moment heartened me and made me realise I wasn’t alone. There are ups and downs in every job. What’s important is that you love your job and find fulfilment in it. And I’m glad that I have colleagues who care for me and will walk that extra mile with me.

Anyway… Heavy stuff aside, Mr Postman came along with a surprise which totally made my day. My weekend started beautifully in the company of people that I love. How about you? =)
