this with yeah yeah yeahs performing two weeks before (i’m hoping karen o will sing maps to me…..and only me) and cat power the day after (check out her rendition of sea of love……bliss), january is starting to make the new year even better.

its been a long time since i’m anticipating a live music act.  the last one was the bird and the bee (move aside taylor swift, polite dance song is the best music video.  ever!!!) and after that, zilch.

hopefully these coming acts will be as memorable as bjork (i was an eighteen year old groupie) at zouk and r.e.m. at the indoor stadium.

w celebrates halloween....& loves sarong party girls!!!

with last minute work plans thrown in the weekend, halloween was spent researching in hong kong.

research, amongst many things, includes entrenching myself in w hotel for 24 hours.  lounging in the bar, soaking the sun at the pool deck and dreaming in their soft, plush bed.

torture!!  (disclaimer:  this is a super lame joke.  must say, sekali minus points.)

i have to say its a superbly designed space, amazing spatial marketing and the entire branding has grown exceptionally strong since the w brand started.

very strong seal. heidi klum must be darn happy...

ah yes, branding.

i guess (as much as i hate it) also applies to all of us.  how we talk, walk and dress gives others that first impression, while the rest (what we do, our interest, thoughts, emotions and character) emits soon after.

so hopefully all those who take the time to read our blogs will have a little insight into the fifty strong, funny, quirky and very human individuals who all decided to celebrate their life with this little experience thrown in.

*ps: as mentioned to annabel earlier, i stumbled onto the same pair of jeremy scott’s js sneakers worn by bryon at miramar shopping centre at tsim tsa tsui.  those who seek a pair, fly there now!

saturday at ion was an episode of sheer adrenaline.  that few minutes of putting your legs to work were definitely trippy.

with friends at the ‘circle seats’ straining their vocal chords, it made the entire experience memorable.  furthermore, new friends made backstage provided the true essence of this event.  thank you to those who returned my hello (& vice-versa).

i have to say though, the afternoon was physically draining and a nap ensued.  the day however could not end without a ‘thank-you’ evening with friends…

*special thanks to daren for reminding me that he is watching a live streaming of u2 live at the rose bowl and i am not.  guess i have to wait (how soon?!!) before they rebroadcast the entire concert on youtube again….humbug.

the great thing about being in design are the industry parties and events held almost every week.

with the opening of the new BO Concept Showroom at Paragon on wednesday night, the community converges for a soiree over canapes, wine and good design.

but nothing beats a nightcap of notoriety with the Space Furniture team over at emerald hill….

mondays like these keep me awake.

i love my job.  nine years of dreaming, molding, constructing spaces have made the daily routine nothing less than a life well-lived.

with two restaurants (japanese & argentinean) in the midst of construction at icon village and another two (italian and indian) at orchard central on the drawing board, work has been extremely exhaustive but like bread to butter (so says mr childs) i can’t see myself doing anything else.

thus i see this foray into female’s yearly event, as a new step into an exciting adventure.  its something i could have never conceived partaking back in my twenties (mantra: live, breathe design) but the thirties spell a new paradigm shift.

i  have to admit though, i can’t help but feel i could be an ‘uncle’ in the bunch *lol* (i’m guessing most are in their twenties?).
