Hi peeps,
Man, I’m pretty sure I bled out today.. Had just returned from scenic Europe. Well so I took a nap to recuperate and dang, I woke up to blood dripping outta my nose – like on the floor, on my shirt, on the floor on the way during the run to the bathroom, on the sink. Yeap you get the picture. I’m sorry this sounds so morbid but I just think it sorta looked like a scene from CSI. =(
Well, so being the usual scientific , wanna know why and how girl, I did it the IT girl way and wikipedia-ed. Dont reckon you’ll be so interested but it’s informative nevertheless to read about it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epistaxis . =(
Anyways, I’ve to admit I’m not really a fan of blogging. I’m kinda shy about telling everyone about your life. Who wants to know? I mean it’s a good avenue to update your friends about your life but maybe I’m just not close to creative and have nothing much to babble about. (until Now about EPISTAXIS).
I’m gonna sidetrack. For those who have read about the interviews in DIVA asia one’s pages, you might have come to know that I like to snap what I see. Definitely not a professional, but i like to call myself an enthusiast. And I do make the most of my job to take pictures of all the beautiful places that give you those “take your breath away” moments, and if I werent flying, I might probably have to cough out all the money I earn for wanderlust.
For those who are quick to judge and easy to be misled- I’m not an airhead. I’d like to clarify that not all flight attendants are airheads. I graduated from a Chem eng degree in a local U. Always been to the great schools, and flying has been fun but a fluke. But hey make lemonade when life gives you lemons NO? Anyways that’s not the point. The point is..
Photography is really an expressive form of art. In its simplest and most generic forms, I guess they are memories. What better to capture your best vacation sights or special moments with a good camera. Well, if you’re having extra cash and want to get a new camera, I think the CANON POWERSHOT G11 is a good bet.

PowerShot G11
For starters, if you’re interested in photography and dont have a know-how of the techicalities of f values, shutter speeds, aperture sizes, white balance etc. (Jargon goes on). A good quality camera with options of both Manual and Auto shooting modes will be ideal. In Auto Mode, you can get acquainted with the camera and take precise shots for those fleeting moments. Imagine having to play with shutter speeds if you’re planning to catch some vroom action during like an F1 race. There are of course more examples. The Powershot G11 has a perfect function for these “fast-paced action’ under the QUICK SHOT mode which does auto adjustment of the focus and exposure for your perfect shot.
I really like how the G11 feels like a solid camera, the black finish, strong sturdy grip. It comes with a 5 X optical zoom which is decent and pretty great for all the functions and scene mode all packed in a black bundle of photographic possibilities. I’m using a single lens camera with no zoom take it from me that i think a zoom is always appreciated when you cant get too close to your object of interest!
What’s more neat when I read more about it was that if you’re a avid diver, the G11 comes with an underwater housing accessory which means you can take the camera out on your next big dive!
Well, I havent been fortunate enough to get my hands on a new Powershot G11. But I have tried my hands on the slightly older G10. Here are some of the awesome pics taken in the Land of Mythical Gods,

At the Acropolis, the Erechtheum

Hydrate!

Temple of zeus using zoom function
I think the resolution here hardly do the pictures any justice. The picture at the Erechtheum was taken with the zoom function as there was a barricade that kept us way further than where I would want to be =) Just to note that the G11 has been modified to 10 Megapixels as compared to the 14.7 Megapixels on the G10 to produce lower noise images at higher ISOs (low light settings).
You’re welcome to read about it http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/g11.shtml.
In my humble opinion, the G11 is a great buy if you want to move comfortably in transition from a compact point -and -shoot camera to like a SLR. The Powershot G series are the leaders in the pro-sumer category of cameras, it combines the compactibility of a point and shoot, as well as the functionality and sophistication in imagery of a SLR.
As Canon puts it: Take Stories, not Pictures!
I will end off randomly too..

I like this shot because it reminds me of the smell of fallen leaves.
Till next time. Adios!
