Mi primera

October 21st, 2009 by Leonard Lu

Mabuhay, everyone!

This simply means, “Long live, everyone!” in Filipino.  I am of Chinese and Filipino descent –oh! And a pinch of Spanish blood, too, but was totally raised a Filipino!  Which means, I try to make my family first on my list, and well…we always try to survive in any situations that are thrown at us.  Yes, that’s a little too biased an observation, I admit.  *grin*

I bet everyone has heard about the recent typhoon and flashflood tragedy in the Philippines these past weeks, and I commend Filipinos all around the world who tried to help the typhoon victims and Filipinos who were in the same situation but chose to extend their help to those who were badly struck by the flood.  And what’s more amazing, is that people of different races and beliefs extended their help to the Filipino victims, too.  That was really inspiring and heartwarming!  And we never miss a beat to say thank you to everyone and plant a seed of respect for them in our hearts.  Then I realized a new meaning for beauty –that could be the true meaning of beauty.

Well, not to get too dramatic now, I am Leonard, an outgoing 27-year old who’s been buzzin’ around Singapore’s metro for almost 3 years now, checkin’ out some fascinating architectures, delicacies, cool bars and party places, making  Singaporean friends, observing cultural differences yet admiring the harmony, experiencing Singapore and just living life!  And yes of course, I work!  I earned a degree in Management Accounting, as a working student, in my native country, the Philippines!  The island that’s made up of islands –7,107 of it! *hahah! Blah! Blah!*  And am now working as an Accounts Assistant cum Personnel Admin at a prestigious company.

Singapore has shaped my life for the past years, it is a big part of me now and I’m hoping that I would benefit more from my decision to continue living in this great place.  This is just one of the many reasons why I thank my family a lot, and for the simple things I’ve learned from them that made me appreciate the life I’m having now, that I am making now.

So much of an introduction is this!  This simply means I’m proud to be Pinoy!  Hmm..Wonder what part of me I would be sharing next. LOL

Oh! And of course, will I ever forget to thank FEMALE Mag for this shockingly rare opportunity to be considered as one of the 50 Gorgeous People!  Thank you so much.  Till next time!
